The Winery is located in wavy South Moravian landscape near the town of Jaroslavice. However the site itself is sunk under the horizon of surroundings. It used to serve as clay mine which resulted in sharp cut in the landscape. It is thus strongly influenced by human activity and the footprint of human work is permanent.

The defining principle for the design was deep connection between site, human work and winemakers family. The composition of the structure is inspired by the process of wine production itself which has a long tradition in this area. Wine making consists of series of activities which are strictly defined. Each activity requires different conditions of light, temperature, humidity and area. They are repetitive during the years and thus becoming the winemaker’s ritual. A specific space is designed for each of these rituals. All these spaces are aligned in one linear structure in logical order. By going through the building you can experience different atmospheres of each room. The process of wine production is consciously and deliberately embedded in the whole Winery.

Whole process of winemaking  is perceivable when walking through arcade alongside the building. The sequence of arches marks individual rooms. Family house of the winemaker is on one end while the visitors and customers are coming from the other one. Both of them meet in the middle where the tasting room is located.
